NVivo 9 will be released in October 2010, and if you’re an existing NVivo user, upgrading is straightforward and cost effective. Owning NVivo 9 means you have access to many new features including the ability to work with spreadsheets and databases, while still allowing you to open and work with projects already developed in previous versions of NVivo.
Go to the heading that applies to you to see how you can upgrade to NVivo 9. In many instances, upgrades to NVivo 9 are available at no additional cost, but a cut off date may apply.
NVivo 8 users with a current software maintenance plan:
If you’re already using NVivo 8 and you have a software maintenance plan, you may qualify for an upgrade to NVivo 9 at no additional cost. To be eligible, your software maintenance plan must be current when NVivo 9 is released in October 2010 – which means that if your plan comes up for renewal before then, you’ll need to pay your fee on time to qualify.
NVivo 8 users that buy a new maintenance plan before 1 July 2010:
If you’re already using NVivo 8 and you don’t currently have a software maintenance plan, you have until 1 July 2010 to purchase one. Any maintenance plans purchased for NVivo 8 before this date will be eligible for an upgrade to NVivo 9 at no additional cost. Use our quick order facility to purchase a software maintenance plan online, or alternatively, complete an order form and forward it to us by email, fax or mail. Your payment must be received before 1 July 2010 to qualify for the upgrade to NVivo 9 at no additional cost.
If you’re using NVivo as part of a site license agreement:
If you use previous versions of NVivo as part of a site license agreement with QSR, then your organization will receive licenses for NVivo 9 at no additional cost. To be eligible, the site license agreement must be current when NVivo 9 is released in October 2010.
If none of the above apply to you:
If you won’t be covered under a site license agreement or maintenance plan, you’ll still be able to upgrade to NVivo 9. Those using NVivo 8 or NVivo 7 will simply need to pay an upgrade fee to own NVivo 9. Upgrade pricing is exclusive to NVivo 8 and NVivo 7 users, and it represents a significant saving on the full price of the software. Pricing will be released later in 2010.
Supplementary Information
NVivo 9 will allow you to open and work with previous versions of QSR software: NVivo 8, NVivo 7, NVivo 2, NVivo 1, N6 (NUD*IST 6), N5 and N4.
